▸CHARACTER
Name: Demyx
Journal: melodiouspacifist
Canon: Kingdom Hearts
Age: 21 (approximately)
Canon Point: Kingdom Hearts II before he was assigned the mission to retrieve Roxas.
Background Information:
Demyx was the ninth Nobody to join Organization XIII, and the first one cultivated outside of Radiant Garden. The world he came from and his original name are currently unknown. Using Axel and Saix as a template for how Nobodies age, it is likely that Demyx was at least as young as they were when his heart was stolen. Between Axel and Roxas is a ten year gap, and since Demyx was the next member in, it is likely he has been a member for the higher end of that time span.
Notably, Demyx was not involved in any of the small factions trying to destroy the Organization from within and he actually remained loyal to the Organization until his demise. He was considered the recon specialist of the group, sent mostly on non-combat missions. His laziness and lack of desire to do their bidding was likely what led to his elimination from Organization XIII, once there were no more traitors around.
He appeared to have a playful relationship with Xibar and Axel, giving them both nicknames, but he didn't seem particularly close to anyone. He was not especially fond of Larxene, who called him lazy and useless, nor Saix who kept barking at him to get to work.
He was the first to reveal that those at Castle Oblivion perished thanks to Sora. He spent enough time around Axel and Roxas for them to make fun of him behind his back. Between missions he was always found playing with his sitar.
He performed several missions with Roxas during his time as a member there. He was friendly with Xion, but found her status as a mere doll unsettling.
After Axel failed to retrieve Roxas and was spending his time with his own agenda, Demyx was assigned the task of watching Sora. His exact orders were to confront him, and use aggression to liberate Roxas' true nature.
This was wildly unsuccessful. He was defeated by Sora, but managed to flee with his life, begging him to come back.
During the battle of 1000 heartless in Hollow Bastion, Demyx was ordered again to liberate Roxas. This fight proved fatal, Demyx vanishing from existence with a pained cry.
It is assumed that when Kingdom Hearts was broken apart he, like the other Nobodies, regained his heart where he lost it.
Personality:
It should be noted first of all that Demyx's outward personality is completely fabricated. As he has no heart and no true emotions, his personality is essentially acting. Demyx presents himself as friendly and outgoing. He maintains a cheerful facade. He always seems to have a smile when talking to him. When the facade drops, he is cold, calculating and ruthless. During his fight with Sora he constantly taunts him, driving Sora to anger, to the point that Demyx's demise is met with a frustrated, celebrated cry on his part.
He often laments he is not cut out for combat. He is not someone who likes to fight, but that should not be mistaken for being a bad fighter. He isn't the strongest member of the Organization, but he is also not the weakest. His behaviour is meant to throw opponents off-kilter, to get them to underestimate him so he can take the upper hand. This is demonstrated when fighting Sora, when he finally drops the act and goes after him with ferocity that seemed unlike him.
Demyx also presents himself as a coward. When confronted with conflict, his first reaction is to run away. He refuses to go on certain missions alone, dragging other members along when he feels like he might be overwhelmed in a fight. This leads the other members to go so far as to question his intelligence. He prioritizes self-preservation, and remaining alive at all costs.
In reality, Demyx is incredibly lazy and doesn't care much for his missions. He is very manipulative, not only dragging members along to save him when he's acting scared, but he has a history of tricking Roxas into doing the bulk of the work on a shared mission, figuring instead he could sleep or play his sitar. He likes to stall for time, or take his time returning to the castle, however due to the nature of the Organization, his missions are likely completed.
His attitude could be easily described as laid-back, fitting with his lazy image. He has an easy-going way of speaking, going as far as to use nicknames, like calling Axel 'Ax' or Xigbar 'Xiggy'. Whether or not the person cares for the nickname, Demyx would keep using it because he has a bit of a stubborn streak.
As a Nobody, the others find him to be very expressive, although they are convinced he is acting, however, it is noted by Axel and Roxas that he is genuinely attached to his sitar and would probably be devastated if he lost it. Playing his sitar is his favourite thing to do, aside from annoying other members of the Organization. Demyx is the type of person to pull pranks to amuse himself if he is bored. Axel and Roxas laughed that he had no talent, but likely Demyx uses his sitar music to annoy everyone around him, particularly when he should be going off on missions. Demyx also takes great care in his appearance, spending a good deal of time styling his hair to his vision of perfection, something he did before his heart was taken.
Due to not having a heart, Demyx does not always show appropriate reactions to situations around him. When half of the Organization was annihilated at Castle Oblivion, he reported this to Roxas with a wide smile on his face. Despite being a recon specialist and a pacifist, Demyx can be very ruthless when drawn into battle. He will not show mercy.
Unlike most members of Organization XIII, Demyx remained loyal to the cause, and Xemnas until the end.
Appearance:
Abilities:
Demyx is a master of water as his element, able to manipulate it to his will, as well as summon it out of thin air. He has many applications for this, one of his favourites being that he creates clones of himself to do the fighting for him. He can create many clones, 99 seeming to be the maximum.
His weapon of choice is his sitar, Arpeggio. Using the music, he controls and manipulates the water to his will. Demyx is best suited as a long range fighter. Arpeggio's distinct shape is similar to the Organization's emblem. The neck of sitar ends in three points, which he can use to strike anyone who gets close, with minimal damage.
Aside from clones, he can summon strong, violent geysers to shoot up from the ground, as well as large waves and other rushes of water.
He possesses two limit breaks. The first, Wave Gigs allows for large pillars of water to be summoned, as a side effect of this, Demyx loses some of his speed, making it a double-edged sword. His Final Limit involves creating a large ball of water and releasing it with explosive power, to send enemies flying away from him, doing a large amount of elemental damage.
Since Demyx is loyal to the Organization, he remains the master of the Dancer Nobodies. He can summon the creatures, leaving them to fight his battles for him. Dancer Nobodies are incredibly fast and agile, grabbing the enemy and spinning them around to send them flying into the air.
Since he is someone who's living in the Darkness, he can summon and travel through Dark Corridors, something of a portalling system, facilitating fast travel.

▸SAMPLES:
First Person:
(Note: I'm not sure either one of these two threads actually fulfills your request for samples, but I'll provide them anyway.)
First Person Sample:
Y'know, I think I finally get the whole 'don't think about it' thing.
I don't know what's real and what isn't but I was thinking about my bed and landed on the floor and smacked my head on the wall.
It's okay! I saved my sitar from getting damaged! I didn't really believe it was going to disappear like that though...
So, uh, how do I go about getting a new bed? I hate sleeping on the floor.
Third Person Sample:
Demyx had never thought The World That Never Was could be even creepier than he'd already known. The thing about the world was that it was already a barren wasteland of strange, desolate buildings, hoards of heartless and flashing neon lights to fill the darkness. A world without light.
The shiver that traveled the length of his spine made him shudder as he walked the cracked pathways. The abandoned buildings were crumbling, the signs burning out, cracked and wrecked as he explored with eyes wide with wonder.
What had happened?
It wasn't so much disbelief - after all, he had no idea how the world came to be in the first place, it was in the name wasn't it? But rather amazement that just a few days away from the world and he was coming back to disastrous ruins.
He knew he was not that bright, but even he could tell there was something seriously off about this place. The castle ahead was still pristine white but it too was crumbling. Where had the other Nobodies gone?
He walked slowly, sitar in hand and tapped his fingers on the polished wood as he walked. His lips thinned into a frown. Tap. He briefly considered portaling, but changed his mind. He needed to see what was going on.
Tap. The silence was unnerving. Demyx did not like the quiet, nor did he like being alone very much and wasn't that the bulk of the problem? Wasn't that one the real reasons he hadn't deserted?
Tap, tap. Nothing but ruined buildings and darkness lay ahead of him. He could not take it anymore. He sucked in a deep, slow breath, readjusted his hand and began to play his sitar, anything at all to breathe some life into the oblivion before him.
